Romanity and the Danube Area

Mirela Arsith

Abstract

The Romanian spirit is a structured set of meanings, a system of inherited conceptions
transmitted historically and expressed in the symbolic forms. Through them, the Romanians
communicate, perpetuate and enrich their knowledge and attitudes under the conditions of increasing
the complexity of social and political life that come to evolve. In our approach, we want to argue in
favor of the idea that "Danube" concept represents a dimension of Romanism identity that shapes and
reshapes around a nucleus, depending on the dynamics of history, which reconfigures an imaginary
valued collective.
