Capturing the Turkish Fortress on Danube as the Decisive Factor in the Victory of Russia in the Russo-Turkish war of 1787-1791

Abstract


During the Russian-Turkish war of 1787-1791 the fortress on the Danube were major military bases for the Turkish army. They are reliably protected the Balkans against the invading Russian troops. Based on studies of the memoirs of contemporaries and predecessors in this article refers to the importance of seizing the Turkish fortifications on the Danube in 1790. In addition, examined and identified the characteristics of each stage of the military campaign in 1790.
