Text Representation of Wedding Ceremony in Dialect Spoken in the Village Shevchenkove Kiliya District Odessa Region

Abstract


The article deals with the description of wedding ceremony in the Ukrainian Higher Danube dialect spoken in the village Shevchenkove, Kiliya district, Odessa region. The author describes stages of this rite through the prism of dialectal texts gathered from the bearers of this steppe dialect which exists in multi-lingual surroundings. The author gives reasons for the necessity to use dialectal texts as a source of cultural information.
