Abstract

The identity of Basarabia is a controversial issue of historical and political reasons. Attempts to create a Moldovan identity emphasizing on the Russophile, it has induced the false idea of the cultural and ethnic distinctness in relation to the Romanian identity. In the battle of identity before and after the collapse of the Soviet Union, there were engaged intellectuals of different generations and political or even aesthetic options. Finally, the new identity of Basarabia is considered a component of the Romanian identity, focusing on the some regional side.
