The environmental management systems and initial environmental investigation
Abstract
In this paper we are trying to identi fy the main environmental management systems characteristics and to describe the first, and by many considered most important stage of EMS implementation – the environmental initial investigation.
The initial investigation is considered of such importance because contains aspects related with the identification of the environmental impacts. Without a proper identification the rest of the EMS process is useless and cannot bring the environmental performance improvement.
