Marius Ioan Chindris

Abstract

The period before the 1848 revolution was the one in which the ideas of nation and national unity were formed. National ideology did not appear out of nowhere and it could not have come to life without it being supported by the people of culture and propagated through education. The  European ideological currents penetrated in Moldavia, fuelling Romanians’ centuries old  dream of being united, the  national ideology having had to wage a fierce struggle for the establishment of a Romanian education in which the Romanian language to have the supremacy.
