Valentina Kirsanova

Abstract

The Danube River originates in the mountain range Shvartsvold (Germany), the merger of
two small mountain streams - Brigham and Breguet. On the way to the Black Sea (which lasts this
way for 2857 kilometers) in many tributaries of the Danube flows, the length of more than thirty of
them exceeds 100 kilometers. Danube level difference between the top and bottom of its points is of
678 meters. The catchment area of the Danube has vast agricultural areas, large industrial centers and
towns. At 23 miles above Ismail single channel of the Danube is divided into two branches: the leftand
right Kiliya - Tulchinsky. Tulchinsky sleeve in turn is divided into two branches, or Girlie -
Sulina and St. George. The most water-bearing Arm is Chilia. Through it passes about 75% of the
flow.
