Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the real position of the European Union in the current global system and its ability to be a global superpower with the capacity to challenge or replace the United States. Many scholars have defined the union as a “superpower”, highlighting the growing influence of EU not only in European countries but also in the international community. Doubtless, the European Union remains a major global player which should not be neglected in the economic and financial terms, but can it be a global superpower? What can be sead about its further political integration direction? Researching the literature and documentation we realize that the European Union is mainly a regional power, disposed to act as a partner to the United States,achieving a lasting coexistence.
