The Multicultural in Odessa Region from a Linguistic Perspective
Abstract
The over 100 ethnic groups from Odessa region carry their troubled history that the
political situation has increased them. The new post-communist context presupposes the rethinking of
culturalism according to other coordinates, so the basis of linguistics is required to be registered and
operated properly. The multilingual region of Odessa is the defining argument of this cultural
exercise, meant to fix in writing a distinct moment of becoming the primary cultural fact. As an
important project and Europeanization demarche the new atlas confirms the multiculturalism region
vocation situated in a vanguard of modernization.
