Abstract
The article examines the financial situation and working conditions of workers and employees of the Soviet State Danube Shipping Company in 1944-1954. The issues of the team creation, its structure and the wage level on the shipping company have been studied. Factors which influence on the performance improvements at the enterprise are considered. Attention is focused on methods to increase the efficiency of the enterprise, in particular, socialist competition, material incentives and disciplinary punishment. The work of the trade union and party organizations of the shipping company is described with regard to the ideological education of the work collective.
